Soon There Will Only Be One Airport in Berlin

For a while there were three international airports in Berlin. Tempelhof was closed three years ago and next year Tegel, city’s west airport will be closed so Schönefeld in the east part of the city will be Berlin’s only airport.

World´s busiest airports

Out of the 20 busiest airports in the world by passenger traffic for the first 8 months of 2010 are 7 U.S. airports, 5 European airports, 7 Asian airports and 1 from the Middle East. Combined, over 700 million passengers travel through these airports during the first eight months of 2010. Compared to last year, Asian and particularly Chinese airports have been seeing the most increase in traffic.

Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, has opened a new terminal which is marketed at low cost airlines. Airport authorities expect one million passengers to travel through the new terminal the first year – but there is already some doubt about the 37 million dollar investment.
